Humble Beginnings
The group now known as USNv was founded in January 2024 as Carrier Air Wing One Virtual (CVW1v), aiming to fill the gaps left in the VATSIM community which had been lacking a dedicated naval aviation group for some time.
The group remained as CVW-1 until early 2025, when the decision was made to transition to United States Navy Virtual. Though considerably younger than many “legacy” VSO organizations on the VATSIM network, USNv quickly established itself on merit, humor, community, and integrity.
